Irwin Polishook, who from 1976 to 2000 was president of the Professional Staff Congress, the largest union at the City University of New York, died Sept. 13 at age 84.
Irwin Yellowitz, who worked at the PSC from its 1972 establishment until his retirement in 1996, first met Mr. Polishook in 1956 when they were graduate students at Brown University.
