Several dozen nurses protested outside Mount Sinai West Hospital Dec. 1 that they're stuck in a dangerous cycle: management there and at Mount Sinai Morningside have failed to honor contractual agreements on staffing, creating stressful, unsafe conditions that wind up increasing turnover at both facilities and harming patient care.
Speaking of the impact this has on those served by the two facilities, New York State Nurses Association President Nancy Haggans said, "You cannot put your loved ones in a situation like that. We need to hire more nurses. We need staff-to-patient ratios."
