After 42 years on the job, Court Officer Major Gerard Duffy departed New York County Supreme Court for the last time March 26. Judges, Court Officers and court staff were on hand for a sendoff as the Major, who was in charge of the county’s Supreme Court Officers, walked out of 100 Centre St. He began his career as a New York City Transit Patrolman and in 1978 moved over to the New York State Courts following what was then a weeklong academy training period. He was promoted to Major in 2004, taking charge of one of the busiest and most visible commands in the city.
