Michael Cavanaugh, vice president of the New York City & Vicinity District Council of Carpenters, above, was honored by Saint Dominic’s Family Services at the organization’s 39th Annual Business and Labor Awards Dinner at the Hilton Midtown on Jan. 30. Since 2003 the Carpenters Union, through its Relief and Charity Fund, has donated $965,000 to Saint Dominic’s. The nonprofit human-services agency provides foster care, mental health, therapeutic education, pre-school and other services for 2,000 children and families in The Bronx, Rockland and Orange counties. 'We are beyond proud of the efforts Vice President Michael Cavanaugh led to help families in need,' said the union’s executive secretary-treasurer, Joseph Geiger, the award’s 2016 recipient.
