The city Department of Education announced June 8 that it will permanently place hundreds of Teachers in the Absent Teacher Reserve system in schools, effectively ending the controversial pool.
ATR Teachers currently assigned to schools temporarily will be placed permanently, while future Teachers who are excessed will be assigned to schools with open spots instead of being placed in the pool, according to the department.
