Just two weeks after securing a $2.1-billion replacement-wage benefit for undocumented immigrants, a coalition of immigrant-rights groups and labor unions has won passage in Albany of the NY HERO Act.
The bill, which must be signed by the Governor to become law, would create workplace standards to prevent the spread of airborne viruses and mandates that even non-union employers create workplace-safety committees.
