A former Rikers Island inmate was arraigned in Bronx Supreme Court Feb. 5 on assault and other charges in connection with a Jan. 9 incident that injured a Correction Officer, the office of Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced.
According to the DA’s office, Gerren Delvin, 34, who had rigged his cell in the Anna M. Kross Center so that he would be able to leave after lock-in, grabbed the Officer by the neck and slashed him several times with a sharp object.
Chased the Officer
The inmate, who is serving a sentence for firearms trafficking, then chased the CO into the facility’s dayroom while continuing to swing the object at him. He was cut on the neck, ear and fingers, the DA’s office said.
Mr. Delvin, of Queens, was indicted on attempted aggravated assault on a peace officer, two counts of first-degree attempted assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and related charges. He is due back in court on April 29.
