The man whose robbery of a Queens cellphone store led to the "friendly fire" by police officers that killed NYPD Det. Brian Simonsen in February 2019 has pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter.
Christopher Ransom, 30, a wannabe-cop and convicted felon, is expected to be sentenced to 33 years in prison for having precipitated a shootout that involved as many as eight officers, including Detective Simonsen, 42. Mr. Ransom also pleaded guilty to robbery charges arising from that incident and another, on Feb. 8, 2019, four days before the fatal encounter at a T-Mobile store on 120th St. near Atlantic Ave.
