Grayson's Lengthy Sanitation Pedigree Nets Him Acting Commissioner Gig

Edward Grayson, a 21-year Department of Sanitation employee who most recently served as Director of the agency's Bureau of Cleaning and Collection, has been appointed acting Sanitation Commissioner, Mayor de Blasio announced Sept. 18, Kathryn Garcia’s last day in the job. 

The acting Commissioner, whose most recent promotion to four-star chief occurred three years ago, has held several positions at Sanit, including as Operations Chief overseeing snow removal during the 2016 Jonas Blizzard, the largest snowstorm in the city’s history.
