Because of the pandemic and then associated budget constraints, two police academy classes—one scheduled to begin in March, the second in July—were canceled earlier this year.
Since then, however, negotiations between the NYPD and the de Blasio administration led to the enrollment of a 900-strong class in early November and then the announcement last week that another would begin before the close of 2020.
