A retired NYPD cop who for a time worked the security detail at Gracie Mansion faces Federal charges for striking a Washington, D.C., police officer with a flagpole during the violent Jan. 6 takeover of the U.S. Capitol by supporters of then-President Trump.
According to charging documents, Thomas Webster, who lives in the village of Florida in Orange County, was seen and heard on body-worn-camera footage berating the officer as a “f---ing piece of s---” and “f---ing commie m---------ers,” then shoving a metal barricade into the officer before lunging at and then striking him with a large metal pole affixed with a Marine Corps flag.
