The Uniformed Fire Officers Association Oct. 22 agreed to defer payment of $39 million in retroactive money owed to its members for raises dating back to 2018 as part of the de Blasio administration's effort to gain significant savings from municipal unions.
The deal followed an earlier deferral of back pay by the United Federation of Teachers via an arbitration award, with similar details including a no-layoff guarantee for fire officers.
