Four former investigators for the Civilian Complaint Review Board say their longstanding efforts to correct the slow pace of agency checks into police misconduct were disregarded and even compromised by its Executive Director and by top aides to Mayor de Blasio to avoid upsetting relationships with the NYPD.
The four high-placed administrators, all of whom were fired in November, are suing the agency and Executive Director Jonathan Darche, alleging that their free-speech and other rights were violated when they were first threatened with retaliation for raising concerns about probes of officer misconduct during last year’s protests and then ultimately terminated.
