Police departments in New Jersey will be required to publicly release the names of officers found to have engaged in serious misconduct, according to a ruling by that state’s Supreme Court.
The decision, issued June 7, marked a pronounced setback for police unions who had challenged directives issued by State Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal last year requiring disclosure.
