The de Blasio Administration has again failed to slow a citizens’ inquiry into what city officials knew up to, during and after the death of Eric Garner following his confrontation with NYPD officers on Staten Island in 2014.
A State Supreme Court appeals panel this week denied the administration’s request for a stay of proceedings into a judicial inquiry sought by Gwen Carr, Mr. Garner’s mother. The court’s March 24 decision came about a month before a scheduled discovery conference, which could clear the way for the petitioners to get access to numerous documents and other evidence.
