Comptroller: DOE Botched Dispersal Of Remote-Learning Devices:

The City Comptroller’s Office found that the Department of Education failed to adequately keep track of learning devices intended for students during the shift to remote learning, leaving thousands of requests open for months, according to a recent audit.

As the coronavirus pandemic forced public schools to shut down, the city purchased 511,000 iPads for $287 million to help students connect to remote learning.
