The Trump Administration plans to implement a new immigration rule to deny green cards, the prerequisite to citizenship, if applicants have applied for public benefits such as “general assistance, SSI, SNAP, most forms of Medicaid, and certain subsidized housing programs.”
The change is slated to go into effect on Oct. 15 and drew 260,000 mostly critical reactions over the 60-day public-comment period.
