After 10 days on strike, Chicago Teachers Union delegates voted Oct. 30 to approve a tentative contract agreement that addressed overcrowded classrooms and would add social workers and school nurses.
The delegates voted 364 to 242 in favor of a five-year pact that would include 16 percent raises for 25,000 Teachers and school staff, adds at least 43 social workers to each school district for the next four years, and would fund more than 250 school nurses. Paraprofessionals also received 9-percent raises.
