Teacher Unions Already Feel Post-Janus Pinch

National Teachers unions are already trimming budgets and guarding against attacks designed to cost them members after the Supreme Court eliminated their right to collect agency-fee payments.

The National Education Association, which represents almost 3 million educators across the country, is projecting a 14-percent membership loss over the next two years thanks to the Janus decision, which overturned the 41-year-old high-court precedent that allowed public-sector unions to receive “fair-share” fees for collective-bargaining, contract administration, and grievance-representation purposes.
