Alison Colby has worked in publishing and production for more than 30 years. In early 2020, she started work as production editor for Scholastic Corp’s children’s magazines, a position unionized with The NewsGuild of New York, a local of the Communications Workers of America.
In her three decades in the field, Colby says Scholastic is the first employer which has failed to provide even cost-of-living raises, which has forced her to use her savings for everyday expenses.
