Former city workers want end to vax mandate

“This was not just a job, this was my lifelong career,” said Bernadette Mejia, a former firefighter who left her job at the FDNY after she chose not to get vaccinated against coronavirus.

Dozens of former municipal workers who refused to comply with the city’s vaccine mandate rallied Sept. 9 at the steps of City Hall alongside members of the City Council’s Common Sense Caucus to urge Mayor Eric Adams to lift the mandate.
