When FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanagh took the stage at an FDNY promotional ceremony at the Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn in February 2023, she was met with a chorus of boos from the membership so loud, it prompted the officer emceeing the event to forcefully tell the firefighters to quiet down.
