A steep price

To the editor:

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that in a response to the Hamas atrocities, there is a strong desire for “mighty vengeance.” Defense Minister Yoav Gallant wants to wipe Hamas off the face of the earth.

It seems likely that once the ground war starts, the chance of survival of the 200 hostages diminishes quickly. Is this the price Netanyahu and Israeli leaders are willing to pay? Before they act, they should consider the worst possible scenario; that is, the hostages are killed, they are not fully able to destroy Hamas, they have to reoccupy Gaza, and they destroy any chance the Palestinians have for a future free from terrorist ideology.

It’s obvious that Hamas released the two American hostages in order to get Biden to put pressure on Netanyahu to restrain his desire for “mighty vengeance.” However, knowing the motives of terrorists doesn’t provide clear strategies to defeat them. Maybe only a brilliant war strategist like Sun Tzu, Erwin Rommel, Dwight Eisenhower, Winston Churchill or Carl von Clausewitz could see most of the factors of the current Israeli-Hamas quagmire and recommend a solution.

  • Hamas Started this to hide their bad leadership and inability to provide there people properly while preaching their faith.

Now it’s real unfortunate many innocent people have and will die or serious injured. Now that the real pain in raining down on all everyone wants it to stop and let’s get back to normal and forgive and forget attitude so to speak. Life doesn’t work that way and Hamas and those who back them want every one to show compassion now so they can regroup and plan a harder attack in the future. So no easy solution but Hamas is acting like the victim now.
