The billionaire funders of the Janus vs. AFSCME case and their allies say workers should have no job security, pensions, or health insurance and they should receive no wage increases—even though inflation is going up and the super-rich are benefitting from the Trump tax cuts. They say workers who ask for raises should not do so collectively, attacking the main reason why unions were formed in the first place.
An avalanche of right-wing propaganda is coming to union members in the form of direct mail and email, trying to convince us not to pay our union dues and thus weaken unions to the point of extinction. The reason is simple: unions often support political candidates who work to reduce inequality and fight for worker and human rights. Unions create pressure to provide government services and pay living wages to workers. Unions help grow the middle class, while the rich anti-union forces want wage slaves who earn barely enough to get by.
