Yes, we should respect the troops who volunteer to protect our freedom. That respect should include protesting every time they are used not to protect our freedom, but to attack another country. Our soldiers should not be put in the position of signing up to defend us and instead sometimes finding themselves fighting for corporate, imperial or political interests.
When some people exercise their freedom by protesting injustice, that should not be interpreted as disrespecting our troops. When our troops come home and don’t get-all the physical and mental-health care they need, that is disrespect.
