Donald Trump’s anti-immigration policy seems to be escalating. It’s not just illegal immigrants who are in his sights. Thousands of immigrants have enlisted in the military, primarily the US Army, with the promise that they will be fast-tracked to getting American citizenship. We have just found out (not from Trump or the Pentagon) that about 40 of these immigrant recruits have been discharged from the military without apparent cause except for their immigrant status.
Those who have been discharged as well as those who now fear being discharged have said that they fear being deported since their military service was their ticket to America and their best chance for citizenship. I have a brother-in-law who received his expedited citizenship through his career in the U.S. Air Force.
