In her Nov. 2 article, Crystal Lewis does an excellent job in highlighting the poverty pay of CUNY Adjunct Professors. This while CUNY touts itself as lifting six times as many low-income students into the middle class as all of the Ivy League schools combined.
Evidently, officials have no interest in lifting their own professors out of poverty. Currently, their Adjunct Professors earn about $28,000 a year, which is a poverty income. Considering the cost of housing in New York City, it’s no surprise some are homeless.
