The current GOP reminds me of the mental state of the captured American soldiers in “The Manchurian Candidate.” However, the Republican sycophants for Trump—unlike Major Bennett Marco (Frank Sinatra) and Sgt. Raymond Shaw (Laurence Harvey) and the others in the captured platoon—didn’t need to be brainwashed to “sell out” their country to a foreign enemy. They are doing it voluntarily for money and power.
The GOP-led Congress is perfectly willing to sell out to Putin and Russia if it pleases and protects Donald Trump and protects their government sinecures from Trump-induced primary challenges.
