The passing of Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Jimmy Breslin (1928-2017) at 88 was a sad day for journalism. “Breslin: Imperfect Man a Perfect Voice for City” (March 31 issue). He was one of the last old-fashioned man-of-the-people reporters.
It reminded me of a great idea put forward by the team of Norman Mailer for Mayor and Jimmy Breslin for City Council President in the 1969 Democratic Party primary: they proposed making NYC the 51st state.
