While much controversy brews over the wealthy people Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance Jr. has declined to prosecute, little attention has been given to whom he is wrongly prosecuting for murder.
On Sept. 22 at around 9 a.m. a Harlem deli clerk named Ahmad Hafeed stabbed to death a would-be robber who tried to stab him. Little has been heard in the media about this after the initial news reports. An exception is the superb Daily News columnist Linda Stasi, who rightly criticized Vance for prosecuting a man who was fighting for his life against a criminal.
