After reading the letter to this paper written by NYC Correction Officer William Valentin (June 26 issue), I had to not only scratch my head, but shake it in disagreement as well.
First and foremost, Valentin’s words are inconsistent with his conduct and actions while he enjoyed his former position as a Correction Officers’ Benevolent Association executive-board member. Further, it is documented and confirmed that Valentin, while serving as a COBA delegate, played an effective role in the coercive removal of two previous COBA executive-board members. His undermining of those people created two openings on COBA’s executive board, one of which Valentin filled when COBA President Norman Seabrook appointed him.
