It’s a phrase you often hear in conservative circles: “American Exceptionalism,” intended to underscore the ways in which our nation excels. Unfortunately, in Las Vegas we saw, yet again, an area in which the U.S. leads all other nations: gun deaths.
No other country on earth experiences the same level of carnage that is seen here. Americans first became aware of the “mass shooter” in August 1966 when a deranged 26-year-old, ex-Marine sniper (I will not put his name in print as he is undeserving of notoriety) climbed the University of Texas’s clock tower and proceeded to kill.
