Except for the rare human who never gets sick, everybody needs health care. Without it, you will die prematurely and suffer while alive. But unlike other western countries, the United States regards health care as a commodity. So you’re required to pay for it or purchase health insurance to get it.
But those of us who think that taxpayer-funded health care that covers everyone (as much of the world has) should be adopted by our country are freeloaders, according to Michael Gorman (April 29 letter).
