For the past eight months, two unions representing some 2,500 court officers in New York City and parts of the upstate region have been fighting to make our courts safe for the people who work there, jurors and the general public.
We—members of the New York State Supreme Court Officers Association and the New York State Court Officers Association—took to the streets to urge the Office of Court Administration to hire more than 400 new officers to adequately staff the courthouses so we can provide the best security and that the courts operate at maximum efficiency.
