The astonishing sense of entitlement that former Queens Library CEO Thomas Galante felt before being bounced from that job last year was highlighted by an audit issued by City Comptroller Scott Stringer that found $310,000 in charges for dubious expenses that were paid for with public funds.

In addition to $100,000 of that money that should have been reported to the IRS as taxable income by Mr. Galante, according to the Comptroller, the audit also found $16,000 in such spending was made by the former deputy who later replaced him on an interim basis, Bridget Quinn-Carey. Mr. Stringer said this “raises serious questions” about whether Ms. Quinn-Carey, who until now was viewed as doing a good job of cleaning up the mess she inherited, should be disqualified from continuing in her role.
