Melissa Mark-Viverito is in a unique position among the city’s top officials. The Council Speaker, who will complete her third term representing her East Harlem/Bronx district next year, cannot seek re-election by virtue of the reconstructed Term Limits Law that kept Michael Bloomberg in office just long enough for his faults to make the world realize he’d wasted our time as well as his money.
She has expressed no interest in pursuing higher office, and the only rumor that trails her has the native of Puerto Rico seeking to become its Governor.
