The four corporate titans sitting to Mayor de Blasio’s right May 18 may have wondered whether they’d wandered into a sequel to “Pretty Woman” when a TV reporter, noting how displeased Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan had been to learn Hizzoner would not attend a Senate hearing the following morning on school control, asked whether it wouldn’t “behoove you to suck up tomorrow?”
To his credit, the Mayor resisted the temptation to plumb his Inner Donald Trump for a comeback line. He also didn’t change his mind, pointing out that two weeks earlier, he had journeyed to Albany and spent nearly four hours testifying before the Senate Education Committee on the same subject.
