Worker’s Death Was Criminal

The death of Carolina Wilson, a Custodial Assistant assigned to Queens Supreme Court, remains shrouded in mystery despite what is known about the circumstances: she suffered the injuries that proved fatal after arriving at work late on May 4 for an overnight shift, and her blood-alcohol level was unusually high when she was admitted to Jamaica Hospital early the following morning.

But video footage spliced together from several surveillance cameras that was viewed by this newspaper’s Bob Hennelly showed Ms. Wilson arriving for work showing no signs of impairment. That suggests that any drinking she may have done occurred later. And disturbing questions are raised by video a couple of hours later showing two Department of Citywide Administrative Services employees rolling her into the building while she is stretched across an office chair, apparently unconscious. The video shows her being taken to the fifth floor of the courthouse, then later taking the elevator back to the first floor, where she stumbled through an area where filming was being done for a movie. Not long after, footage shows her back on the fifth floor, stumbling and disoriented, before she was found by a member of the film crew.
