Barr Betrayed Public Trust

It was the English satirist Jonathan Swift who 300 years ago wrote the phrase that has since been borrowed or paraphrased by wordsmiths from Mark Twain to Winston Churchill that “if a Lie be believ’d only for an Hour, it has done its Work, and there is no farther occasion for it. Falsehood flies, and the Truth comes limping after it…”

His words had particular resonance late last month when the Mueller Report was released in redacted form 32 days after U.S. Attorney General William Barr issued what purported to be a summary of its conclusions.
