Yes, he probably wasn’t being deliberately insensitive when, responding to a Sergeant from Staten Island’s 120th Precinct nearly five years ago who conveyed anxiety about the likelihood that Eric Garner was going to die after being manhandled by cops, he texted, “Not a big deal. We were effecting a lawful arrest.”
