On their first day on the job, all Federal employees hold up their right hands and take an oath of office to bear truth, faith and allegiance to the United States. This oath underscores that working for the Federal government requires a unique level of public service and dedication and it has been my experience that federal employees routinely live up to and exceed those high expectations. Every day, Federal employees protect our air and water, guard our borders, safeguard our banking systems, ensure the safety of nuclear materials, inspect our food, drugs and medical equipment and so much more.
