NYSUT, PSC Say Janus Spurred Member Gains

The successful push to end the right of public-sector unions to collect agency-fee payments from nonmembers in order to weaken them may have backfired, if the gains in membership at two public-sector unions indicate anything.

Unions have feared that the Supreme Court ruling this past June would weaken them. In right-to-work states, which have laws that prevent union membership and paying dues from being conditions of employment, participation in unions has declined.
