The NYPD announced three new three-star “super-chiefs” Feb. 18, replacing two extremely unpopular commanders who were advised to retire and another who left at the end of last year to become Superintendent of Police in Puerto Rico.
Robert K. Boyce, who had been Assistant Chief in charge of Manhattan Detectives, was promoted to Chief of Detectives. Joseph J. Reznick, who had been Assistant Chief in charge of the Narcotics Division, was promoted to Chief of Internal Affairs. Thomas M. Chan, who had been the three-star chief of the Community Affairs Bureau, is the new Chief of Transportation.
