Even With Olatoye Out, HA Officials Given Hard Time at Council Hearing

A City Council hearing on the management of Housing Authority developments revealed systemic failures that have contributed to unsanitary and crumbling conditions.
A state Health Department probe conducted in March found severe conditions in 83 percent of the 255 public-housing apartments inspected, including mold, rodent infestations and water damage. Last month, NYCHA had a backlog of 150,000 open work orders, which included 32,000 paint jobs, 24,000 carpentry requests and 14,000 plastering jobs.
