How to Select a Qualified Tax Preparer

If you pay someone to prepare your tax return, the IRS urges you to choose that preparer wisely. Taxpayers are legally responsible for what’s on their tax return even if it is prepared by someone else. Here are a few points to keep in mind when choosing someone to prepare your return.

1. Referrals. Referrals are good bet. Ask everyone you can think of: family, friends, co-workers, business owners, and financial advisors. Also, it will help to ask someone who has a similar income-tax situation to yours.
