This year was the second that Danny Katch chose to have his daughter, now in fourth grade at P.S. 69 in Queens, opt out of state tests.
He has seen a growing interest from other parents in not having their kids take tests, and notably at a recent forum that drew 30 of them. “We’re not trying to tell people what to do; we’re just trying to let people know it’s an option that they have,” he said.
