U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez has brought a civil suit alleging that the union election for school bus workers here last June was improperly conducted and should be voided, with a new vote to be held.
In the complaint, filed last week on his behalf by the U.S. Justice Department, Mr. Perez stated that the losing candidate for president of Local 1181 of the Amalgamated Transit Union, Thomas Salerno, had offered proof of violations of the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act by denying members in good standing of the right to vote and providing an incomplete list of members in good standing for the purposes of mailing them campaign literature.
