Former Queens Library CEO Thomas Galante and other executives cooked books as well as dispensing them, according to an investigation and audit released last week by City Comptroller Scott Stringer. In fact, $310,000 spent on pricey dinners, tickets to rock concerts and high-tech gadgets for personal use warrants an investigation by the Internal Revenue Service and local law-enforcement agencies, he said.
Though Mr. Galante’s spending—which infamously included a $27,000 smoking deck—was widely reported last year and eventually led to his removal in December, the report was the first mention of possible misconduct by Bridget Quinn-Carey—the then-Chief Operating Officer who was named as his interim replacement.
