Retired Firefighter Kenny Specht and Gerard Fitzgerald, the vice president of the Uniformed Firefighters Association, will face each other in a run-off election after neither candidate got the required 50 percent plus one in the mail balloting that closed March 21 for the union presidency. Ballots will be mailed out March 30 and must be returned by 9 a.m. April 17.
Mr. Fitzgerald got 2,434 votes, or 40 percent, compared to Mr. Specht is 2,286, or 38 percent. Third place went to Firefighter Christopher McSorley with 840 votes and retired Firefighter Bill Romaka got 466.
