Even on his last day on the job at One Police Plaza, there was no sense that NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce, 62, was slowing down. A steady procession of well-wishers and last-minute details had him running more than a half-hour behind schedule before he sat down for an interview with this newspaper.
Early in the conversation he felt obliged to discuss The Chief and what he saw as its role in his career, and now, in those of his own children.
